Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Monday Week 10 Ordinary time - June 8, 2020

Monday 8th June 2020
10th week in ordinary time year II
1 Kings 17:1-6, Matthew 5:1-12
There are times in our lives when we ask if truly it is important to keep doing what is right when everyone around us is doing the wrong things. It may even get worse if those around us are calling us names to make us feel awkward and out of place.
Jesus in the gospel reading of today, makes us to understand that it is not easy to live a good life. In fact, doing what is right comes with some physical, verbal and psychological persecution. Nevertheless, if we are able to persist in doing good, great reward awaits us in heaven. Many people will definitely say one thing or the other about you if you  are gentle, always doing what is right, if you are  merciful, have a pure heart, a peacemakers. Persecution will come your way for standing on the side of, and doing justice, but Jesus assures us that if we are steadfast in the midst of these, the kingdom of heaven will be ours. Be steadfast in faith and keep up the good works you are doing. God help us. Amen
